D’Tigers of Nigeria beat China to book 2020 Olympics ticket

Nigeria men’s basketball team D’Tigers have secured an automatic ticket to the 2020 Olympics games after an 86-73 win against China at the ongoing FIBA World Cup.

D’Tigers headed into their last 17-32 classification game against the hosts knowing a win against China would earn them the tickets to the forthcoming Olympics games in Japan and they duely delivered.

Led by Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Josh Okogie, D’Tigers overcame a slow first quarter start to secure a remarkable 86-73 win on Sunday.

Nnamdi Vincent 11 points, Josh Okogie 19 points, Chimezie Metu 11 points and Ekpe Udoh 13 points combined for 54 of the 86 points in the routine win.

After their 82-77 lose to Russia in the first game and 81-94 to Argentina in their second game; Nigeria trashed South Korea, CIV and now China to ensure they book the only ticket available to African team for the Olympics games through the world cup.

Tunisia and other teams will now participate at the Olympics qualifiers for a chance to play a part in 2020 Olympics.
