‘Eagles don’t need me’, Mikel hints at retirement

Super Eagles captain has hinted at International retirement after playing 89 games for the national team.

The former Chelsea midfielder helped the Super Eagles of Nigeria secure their 8th Bronze medal title on Wednesday.

Mikel Obi who didn’t enjoy playing time in Egypt at the 2019 tournament has said he could end his journey with the national team accepting the team is good without him.

“I think the team is doing well without me.

“I don’t think they need me. It is what it is. It is football.

“You have to know when to let go.

I have been here for 13 years and I have played almost all the game”
