Eagles were unlucky – Salisu Yusuf
Nigeria coach Salisu Yusuf believes they created enough
opportunities to win against Rwanda in their CHAN 2018
opener but were unlucky against defensive opponents.
The second group ‘C’ encounter ended goalless at Stade
Batouta, Tangier, Morocco with Rwanda putting up a strong
defense to frustrate the home-based Super Eagles side.
“We had opportunities, but we were unlucky,” the former
international said.
He added: “Rwanda deployed a defensive strategy and it
worked for them.”
Nigeria squandered countless glaring scoring chances against
the coach Antoine Hey outfit including hitting the woodwork
three times.
Nonetheless, Salisu has no regrets and is already plotting for
the next outing against Libya, who thumped debutants
Equatorial Guinea 3-0 at the same venue in the group’s opener.
“The players had a good game we regret nothing. We were
unlucky and that’s it. I remain positive because luck was not on
our side.
“The next match will be against Libya, who beat Equatorial
Guinea. It will be an open match.”
