Conte: Too early put Chelsea in the title mix

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has refused to be drawn in the title race talks as the Italian shut down questions suggesting his side could win the Premier League title.

While addressing the media at club’s Cobham training ground ahead of Sunday showdown with hard to beat Southampton, the Italian said its too early to consider his side title favourites.

Conte’s side have won their last three Premier League matches, including a 4-0 win over Manchester United last week and are fourth, one point off the top.

“A win or a defeat does not change my ideas or the confidence of the players. This system is a good fit.

“We shouldn’t look at the table but just concentrate on training and the next match – that will lead to improvement. This league is very difficult and anything can happen.

“It is important to get consistency and trust in the work. There are five teams that are very close but we shouldn’t look at the table. It is too early to talk about the table and the title.”
