Eberechi Eze the Hero as Crystal Palace Win First Big Trophy by Beating Manchester City in FA Cup Final

Crystal Palace won their first major trophy by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Eberechi Eze was the star for Palace. He scored after 16 minutes, finishing a great counter-attack with a cross from Daniel Munoz.

Manchester City had a frustrating day. This was the first time they didn’t win a trophy in a season since Pep Guardiola’s first year in charge in 2016–17.

City were angry in the first half when Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson handled the ball outside the box under pressure from Erling Haaland. VAR decided not to send him off because Haaland was moving away from goal, so it wasn’t a clear goal-scoring chance.

Henderson became the hero for Palace again when he saved a penalty from Omar Marmoush after Tyrick Mitchell fouled Bernardo Silva. Haaland didn’t take the penalty, as he had missed three of his last seven.

City had more of the ball, but Palace defended very well. Henderson made key saves from Haaland, Josko Gvardiol, and Jeremy Doku in the first half, and from Claudio Echeverri in the second.

When the match ended, Palace fans celebrated with joy. Their long wait for a big win was finally over.
