Ebuehi’s goal not enough as Lookman’s Atalanta beat Empoli

Ademola Lookman goal drought continues

Forgotten Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi was on target for Empoli as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta in a Serie A game on Friday.

The Serie A clash between Atalanta and Empoli presented an opportunity for Nigerians to watch two of their players go head-to-head at the Gewiss Stadium.

Tyronne Ebuehi for Empoli who were looking for their first Serie A win having gone 7-game (3D,4L) without a single win.

Ademola Lookman for Atalanta, the Nigerian forward had played in 7 games in all competitions without a goal heading into this clash.

Tyronne Ebuehi started the game for Empoli, while Ademola Lookman only made it to the bench. Ebuehi quickly rewarded his manager’s trust with a 44th-minute strike.

The right-back made a dashing run into the box, a cross was deflected into his path and he buried from a close range.

Marten De Roon and Rasmus Hojlund scored for Atalanta in the 58th, and 86th minutes to hand the home side a 2-1 comeback win.

Ademola Lookman was subbed in the 76th minute, but 14 minutes was not enough for him to end his goal drought.

With this game, it is now an 8-game goal drought in all competitions, 7 in the Serie A for Ademola Lookman.
