Eden Hazard could miss start of next season after suffering ankle fracture

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard could miss the start of next season after fracturing his ankle while on international duty.

Hazard, who was named the Blues’ Player of the Year for his efforts this season, pulled up in the last few minutes of a training session on Sunday.

Belgium confirmed he would miss the fixtures against Estonia and the Czech Republic, and the Daily Mail say Hazard will be out of action for six to eight weeks.

Belgium’s official Twitter account said on Sunday night: ‘Medical imaging showed that Eden Hazard has a fracture in his right ankle.’

Hazard was one of Antonio Conte’s stand-out players across a hugely successful campaign, scoring 17 goals in 43 games for the new Premier League champions.

He has been linked with Champions League winners Real Madrid and refused to rule out a stunning move to the Bernabeu this summer.

Asked by HetLaatsteNiews if he would listen to an offer from Real, Hazard said: ‘Of course I’ll listen. We all have our dreams.

‘It could be Spain, it could be staying with Chelsea. I’m good where I am now.

‘I think I can stay at Chelsea for many years. But it’s not something I’m thinking about right now. We’ll see.
