El-Kanemi Warriors Unveil Kabiru Dogo as New Technical Adviser
Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, El-Kanemi Warriors FC, have officially unveiled Kabiru Dogo as their new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The unveiling ceremony took place on Sunday, 29 June, at the club’s base in Maiduguri. Dogo, who arrived in the city on Friday, signed a two-year contract and will be allowed to appoint one assistant coach to join his technical crew.
He replaces Aliyu Zubairu, whose contract expired at the end of the last campaign.
El-Kanemi narrowly avoided relegation last season, surviving by just one point. The club’s board began a major overhaul of the technical department to ensure better performance in the upcoming season.
In the interim, Mohammed Kachalla was promoted to chief coach, while Ibrahim Imam A. Laji, who led DMD FC to promotion from the Nigeria Nationwide League One, was named assistant coach. The club also strengthened its backroom staff with the additions of Ishaku Hussaini and Hussaini Yusuf from Aminu Babes and El-Kanemi Babes, respectively. Popular goalkeeping coach Usman Mohammed, also known as “Casillas”, joined as assistant goalkeeper trainer.
Pre-season training is already underway, with Dogo expected to take full charge from next week.
Dogo is well known in the NPFL, having previously managed clubs like Nasarawa United, Sunshine Stars, Lobi Stars and Kwara United. His vast experience and reputation for building strong teams are seen as key assets as El-Kanemi aim for stability and progress in the new season.
