Enekwechi disappoints in shot put final at Tokyo Olympics
Makeshift women's 4X100m quartet places 6th in Heat 2
Nigeria’s hopes of picking up a third medal on Day 14 were dashed after Chukwuebuka Enekwechi could not manage the feats he did during the Group stage of the event during the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Enekwechi finished a lowly 12th after throwing his shot put to a distance of 19.74m. He fouled on his first attempt before throwing to a distance of 18.87m in his second try before throwing to 19.74m with his final attempt to finish in 12th place.
In the women’s 4X100m, Team Nigeria’s quartet of Ese Brume, Patience Okon-George, Tobi Amusan and Grace Nwokocha were drafted from various events after the original relay quartet had been hit by suspension and disqualifications. The makeshift relay team ran a nice time of 43.25 seconds to finish Heat 2 in sixth place and miss out on qualification for the semifinals of the event.
