England booked their place in the semifinals of Euro 2020 with a comfortable 4-0 rout of Ukraine at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The Three Lions will now face Denmark in the semifinals of the tournament after the Danes held on for a famous 2-1 victory over Czech Republic.
England defeated Ukraine with a comfortable performance from their stars. Captain Harry Kane opened the scoring for them just four minutes into the game before Harry Maguire doubled their lead from a Luke Shaw assist in the first minute of the second half, and Kane scored from another Shaw cross in the 50th minute to make it 3-0. Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson scored a fourth for the dominant Three Lions after the hour as they booked their semifinal place in grand style. England are the only side left in the competition who have not conceded a single goal throughout the competition. They have qualified for their first Euros semifinals in 25 years.
Denmark took advantage of a fast start to dump Czech Republic out of the competition with a 2-1 victory. Thomas Delaney headed home a Jens Stryger Larsen corner after just five minutes to open the scoring for the Danes before a brilliant cross from Joakim Maehle was finished off exquisitely by Denmark’s in-form striker Kasper Dolberg just three minutes before the break. Patrick Schick scored his fifth goal of the Euros to drag Czech Republic back into the game in the 49th minute, but Denmark defended resolutely and secured their first semifinal appearance at a major competition since they won the Euros in 1992.
