Enyeama confirms the passing away of his father

Hours after SPORTSRATION on Saturday, announced that Vincent Enyeama is bereaved, the legendary Nigerian goalkeeper has confirmed the death of his father, Phillip Enyeama.

Vincent Enyeama, widely regarded as Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ greatest goalkeeper of all time, is in mourning following the passing of his father, Philip Enyeama.

The retired shot-stopper announced the sad news in an Instagram post, where he shared a heartfelt tribute and a video of him and his late father playing a game of Table Tennis.

“To God be the glory for a life well spent; you were the reason a lot of people achieved what they achieved. You were selfless and generous,” Enyeama wrote in the caption.

While Enyeama did not provide additional details surrounding his father’s passing, he eulogized him for his selflessness and contribution to the success of others. “You stood in for many; you fought for many to achieve their dreams,” he added.

Vincent Enyeama, Nigeria’s second most-capped player ever, has been back in his homeland since ending his playing career in France with Lille in 2018.

The loss of his father comes as a significant blow for the 41-year-old, who became an orphan after his mother, Lucy Enyeama, passed away in 2015.

Coach Phillip Enyeama was responsible for his son, Vincent’s early training and so his contributions to Nigerian football, both on and off the field, left an indelible mark.
