By: Timothy Dehinbo

Late Ibrahim Mustapha strike helped Enyimba secure a 1-1 draw against MFM FC at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar on Saturday as Ogunbote’s men continue their winless run.

Coach Ogunbote has beenĀ under serious pressure following below-par performances from the People’s Elephant, thanks to the late goal maybe it could have been worse.

Both teams took the game to each other from the blast of the whistle trying to make their intention to win the game known but it was the hosts who had the first chance at goal with 7th-minute free-kick but nothing came out of the strike.

It was an end to end play till Nigeria Professional Football League top scorer Stephen Odey put MFM FC in front after converting a sweet pass provided by his “partner in crime”Ā Sikiru Olatunbosun.

Enyimba had the chance to equalize in the 32nd minute via a free kick, but Mfon Udoh’s attempt was way over the bar. But the People’s Elephant kept pushing and almost got the equalizer in the 36th minute but were denied by a great save from Egbe Ospino who was in goal for MFM FC.

Enyimba started the 2nd half as they ended the first half looking for the equlizer and in the 51st minute they almost

got a goal but once again denied by Egbe Ospino.

In the 68th minute, Ogunbote made a susbstitution that swung the game in his team’s direction Ismaila Gata came in for Stephen Chukwudu.

MFM FC almost got their second goal bt Sikiru Olatunbosun Strike was saved by experiencedĀ Ghanian goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda who was in goal for Enyimba.

Finally, Enyimba got a goal in the 81st minute through Ibrahim Mustapha with Ismaila Gata providing the assist.

It was Mustapha’s 3rd goal of the season for Enyimba but the People’s Elephant could not add another to end their run of 5-game winless streak, a result which means all three top flight fixtures involving both sides have now ended in stalemate.
