Enyimba defeats Abia Warriors in rescheduled Oriental derby

Enyimba defeated city rivals Abia Warriors 1-0 at the Okigwe Township Stadium in their rescheduled NPFL Oriental derby fixture on Thursday.

In-form Enyimba striker Victor Mbaoma scored the game’s only goal after 12 minutes to secure all three points from the derby encounter against their Abia state counterparts.

Enyimba’s win took them up to fifth place on 48 points, 5 points behind table-topping Akwa United with one game in hand against Kwara United. Enyimba are the side with the best away record in the NPFL this season, having picked up 17 points on the road, a joint-high with Akwa United.
