Enyimba FC draw Al Ahli Benghazi, Remo Stars FC get Medeama FC in CAF Champions League Preliminary round

Nigeria’s representatives Enyimba International FC and Remo Stars will face Al Ahli Benghazi and Medeama FC in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League this season.

This is according to the draws for the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League made on Tuesday July 25, 2023 at the CAF Headquaters in Cairo, Egypt.

54 clubs from 42 Member Associations are engaged in this season’s TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

For the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League, ten clubs were exempted from the preliminary round but there was no place for two-time winners Enyimba FC of Aba.

Nigerian Champions Enyimba FC will face Libyan club Al Ahli Benghazi in the preliminary round. The winner of this fixture will face either Coton Sport of Benin republic or ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast for a place in the money-spinning  group stage.

2022/2023 Nigeria Premier League runners-up Remo Stars Sports Club will be making their CAF Champions League debut when they face Medeama FC of Ghana in the preliminary round.

Seeded Horoya FC of Guinea awaits the winner of the Remo Stars Vs Medeama FC clash in the second round.

First leg of the CAF Champions League Preliminary round matches will take place on on August 18-19 with the return legs billed for 25-26 August, 2023.

Egypt’s Al Ahly are the current holders of the CAF Champions League after their fiercely contested victory over Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca . Both former Champions are among the ten seeded teams for the preliminary round.
