EPL Matchday 17 Recap: Chelsea drop points as City, Liverpool march on

Three games postponed due to COVID issues

Manchester City were dominant in the Premier League Matchday 17 fixture as they thumped their opponents Leeds United 7-0.

De Bruyne’s brace, a goal each from Riyad Mahrez, John Stones, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Nathan Ake help City secure a convincing 7-0 win on Wednesday.

Alexandre Lacazette and Emile Smith-Rowe scored the goals to help Arsenal secure an important 2-0 win against their London rivals West Ham United.

Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota helped Liverpool to a comeback 2-1 against Newcastle whose goal was scored by a former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

Chelsea were dominant in their game against Newcastle but were held to a 1-1 draw at the Stamford Bridge on Thursday. Both teams were missing players due to injuries and Covid related issues.

Brighton were beaten 1-0 by Wolves in their fixture. Southampton and Crystal Palace were involved in a 2-2 draw.

Steven Gererd’s Aston Villa defeated Norwich 2-0 in Dean Smith’s reunion.

The fixtures involving these teams were postponed due to COVID related issues.

Leicester City v Tottenham
Burnley v Watford
Brentford v Manchester United

Manchester City with 41 points remain top closely followed by Liverpool with 40 points and Chelsea with 37 points, Arsenal with 29 points complete top four.
