Esbjerg 2 Midtjylland 2: Paul Onuachu scores 8th league goal of the season to keep pace

Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu notched his 8th league goal of the season in Midtjylland’s 2-2 draw at the Esbjerg in a Danish Superliga game on Sunday.

The lanky striker who returned to goal scoring form after firing blank in his club’s last two games, scored the goal that could have retained his side’s position at the top only for a stoppage time goal to cancel it out.

The first half offered nothing as both side failed to find the back of the net. But just at the start of the second half the home team drew the first blood.

Jakob Lungi Sorensen opened the scoring in the 46th minutes. The visitors pegged their hosts back just 4 minutes after going down through Alexander Scholz.

Paul Onuachu stepped up to put Midtjylland up with a fine finish in the 66th minutes of he game. The goal is his first since he last scored a hattrick back in October 20th.

When it looked certain Midtjylland were going home with the maximum points, they were pegged back with the last kick of the game.

Adrian Petre scored late to equalized for the home team to bring the at Blue Water Arena to their feet.

The draw saw Midtjylland concede their top spot to Copenhagen who now has 34 while they have 32 from 15 games.

Paul Onuachu kept pace with the top scorers has his strike puts him in top 4 with just 2 goals behind the top scorer Brondby’s Wilczek and 1 behind Copenhagen duo of N’Doye and Skov.
