Europa League: Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze & Peter Olayinka march into quarterfinal with Arsenal,Villarreal & Prague
The two Nigerian players left in the 2019 Europa League have marched into the last eight of the competition with ease.
Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Peter Olayinka will be playing in the quarterfinal stages of the 2019 Europa League after their clubs secured aggregate wins over their opponents to qualify.
Alex Iwobi (Arsenal)
Alex Iwobi played for 20 minutes as Arsenal secured a comfortbale 3-0 win against Rennes in the second of their last 16 game played at Emirates Stadium on Thursday.
Before he came in Arsenal were already two goals up with goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Two minutes after he came on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled his tally to help Arsenal win 3-0 and secure an aggregate win of 4-3.
When he came on he was involved as Arsenal locked Rennes out. He was also involved in an ugly scene when he mocked Rennes defender Hamari Traore for having a smelly breath.
Alex Iwobi scored Arsenal only goal in the first leg played in France last week on Thursday.
Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal)
Samuel Chukwueze was an unused sub for Villarreal as they smashed Zenit St Petersburg 2-1 for an aggregate win of 5-2.
Chukwueze who helped Villarreal secure a 2-0 win at Levante last weekend was rested for their La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano this Sunday.
Peter Olayinka (Slavia Prague)
Peter Olayinka provided the assist for the goal that sent Czech champions Slavia Prague to the quarterfinal of the UEFA Europa League at the expense of Sevilla.
Both teams played out a 2-2 draw in the first game in Spain, before Slavia Prague won 4-3 after extra-time at home to go through 6-5 on aggregate.
Peter Olayinka provided the 119 minute assist for the decider.
