Exciting Osimhen has endless possibilities if can convince himself – Napoli coach Spalletti

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti is convinced his star striker Victor Osimhen has an endless possibility only if he can first convince himself.

The Italian who critique a part of his striker’s playing style last week after their 1-1 draw at Camp Nou against Barcelona has offered more tips to the Nigerian.

Victor Osimhen fought like a lion despite being isolated in the Europa League clash against Barcelona.

Pressing from front and running the channel, but in all the good things he did, he had one major obvious issue in the game – his timing.

He strayed fractional wide on a few occasions and also played a few bad final balls after doing a good job of running the flanks.

“Osimhen? If Koulibaly is scary, he is stratospheric. I don’t understand how far he can get, but the thought of what he can become excites me,” Spalletti told Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“The future possibilities makes me curious. He must understand where he can get to in the future.”

Spalletti also stressed the importance of Osimhen’s conviction in his abilities for him to make the next move.

“In Barcelona, he showed that he has the physicality to put the defence of the opponent in difficulty,” Spalletti added.

“You saw him in the last game go on those 40m runs, taking all the opposing defence with him and then missing the cross.

“He is close enough to executing those brushstrokes, but he must first convince himself he can do it. He can also do other things besides the runs.”

Napoli could go joint top on Serie A table if they win at Cagliari later today.
