EXCLUSIVE: The signs were there, says Plateau United’s hat-trick hero Reuben Bala

Plateau United hat-trick hero, Reuben Bala Yakubu, has said the signs were there prior to scoring his three goals in weekend cracker against ABS at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.

Reuben Bala scored a penalty in the 47th minute, a powerful header in the 70th minute and in the 92nd minute of the game he completed his hat-trick scoring from the spot again to help Plateau United trash ABS 4-1 on Sunday.

The striker whose role model is Ronaldo De Lima expressed his gratitude to God for helping him achieve the feat but revealed to Sportsration.com that he knew he was going to do something special in the game.

“I feel very happy and privileged to score my first professional hat trick. It is mind-blowing and a booster for me to score more goals again, I think it was God that did it for me, so I appreciate him.

“Well, I saw it coming because the last two training sections we had before the game were fantastic. The pace was very high and everybody gave their best so that training propelled me to do well in the game and the goals came.”

The striker whose hat-trick was the only one on match day 15 in the Nigeria Professional Football League refused to rule out winning the top scorer award despite being 9 goals behind the present top scorer.

“The three goals I scored were my first goals, I wouldn’t say I am eying the top scorers gong, but I think it will come naturally.”

Reuben Bala’s first professional hat trick took Plateau United back to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table.
