FA Cup: Predicted Arsenal starting XI vs Liverpool

As Arsenal prepares to face Liverpool in the FA Cup third round this evening, the Gunners are eager to bounce back after a disappointing end to 2023, with just one point from their final three league games.

Manager Mikel Arteta, seeking a strong response at the Emirates Stadium, may introduce a few changes from the recent 2-1 loss at Craven Cottage, opting for a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Predicted Line-up:

  • Goalkeeper: While Arteta has not disclosed the starting goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale is anticipated to feature, having played second fiddle to David Raya. Ramsdale’s recent appearances in the Carabao Cup suggest he could get the nod for this crucial clash.
  • Defenders: Ben White, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes are expected to retain their spots in the backline. However, Jakub Kiwior might make way for Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back, who has recovered from a calf injury.
  • Midfield: Arteta may opt for more defensive assurance in the center of the park, bringing in Jorginho to partner Declan Rice. Rice could take on a more advanced role when in possession due to his strong distribution skills.
  • Forwards: Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard are likely starters on the right wing and as the number 10, respectively. Odegaard, despite creating numerous chances in recent games, hopes for improved finishing from his teammates. Gabriel Martinelli may get the nod over Leandro Trossard on the left, with a straight swap as Gabriel Jesus replaces Eddie Nketiah up front.

Arteta will be banking on this lineup to deliver a strong performance and secure a positive result against Liverpool, setting the tone for a successful run in the FA Cup.
