FA Cup’s Super Eagles: Saturday’s Round-Up

The English FA Cup third round kicked off on Friday January 8th as Liverpool knocked out Aston Villa. Saturday’s fixtures saw a host of Super Eagles stars take to the field for their respective clubs.

Super Eagles attacking midfielder, Alexander Iwobi was on the pitch for 61 minutes as his Everton team needed extra time to beat EFL side Rotherham United 2-1. It was in fact Iwobi’s replacement, Abdoulaye Doucoure that scored the goal that gave Everton the win.

Central Defender, Semi Ajayi was on for the full duration as West Brom crashed out on penalties against EFL side Blackpool. Ajayi scored what was his 20th goal in the past 4 seasons in the second half of the game to draw his side level, but they eventually lost the game.

Fulham Right back, Ola Aina played 120 minutes as Fulham scored twice in extra time to defeat Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Leicester City midfield anchor, Wilfred Ndidi was on for the whole duration of his side’s match against Stoke City. The Leicester man was at his destructive best as Leicester picked up a routine 4-0 victory. He also came up against Super Eagles hall of famer, John Obi Mikel who played the full 90 minutes for Stoke City. Leicester striker, Kelechi Iheanacho played just 8 minutes on the day.

Watford’s centre back, William Troost-Ekong was in action for 75 minutes as his side fell to Scott McTominay’s early goal at Old Trafford against Manchester United. Ex-Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo was an unused sub for Manchester United.
