Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea have made move to sign Victor Osimhen
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea have initiated talks to secure the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have engaged in discussions with the agent representing the Super Eagles forward regarding a potential move to West London.
The Blues are among the leading European clubs expressing interest in acquiring the Nigerian international during the upcoming transfer window.
However, French giants, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) side pose a formidable competition in the pursuit of Osimhen. PSG are lining up the Napoli man as part of a new-look attack following the exit of Kylian Mbappe who played his last home match last weekend shortly before winning the Ligue 1 player of the season award.
Despite the opportunity to become the new Prince in Paris, Victor Osimhen is reportedly more inclined towards a move to the Premier League than a return to the French Ligue 1.
Fabrizio Romano further disclosed that Chelsea have reached out to Osimhen’s agent as part of their proactive approach to bolstering their squad.
He explained, “They have a shortlist of players, maybe four or five names for each position, but you still don’t know who is the top target. But at the end of the day, you are already speaking to agents to discuss opportunities. For example, Chelsea spoke to different agents for the striker position—the agents of Sesko, Osimhen, the agents of different players.”
A long and eventful summer awaits the CAF Player of the Year as he decides his future.
