Fabrizio Romano shares update as Hansi Flick targets Ademola Lookman for Barcelona summer move

Barcelona could be ramping up their interest in Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, with new manager Hansi Flick identifying the Atalanta star as a potential addition to his squad, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

In a Thursday morning update, Romano cited Catalunya Radio, reporting that Flick has pointed to Lookman as a possible summer target for the Catalan giants.

Lookman has risen in profile since making the move from RB Leipzig to Serie A side Atalanta three seasons ago. The 27-year-old has delivered consistently impressive performances, contributing 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 appearances. Most notably, he scored a hat trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, helping Atalanta secure their first ever European trophy.

Flick, who recently took charge at Barcelona, reportedly sees Lookman as a technically gifted and cost effective option to strengthen the team. According to Barca Times, the German coach has already communicated to the club’s board that he would like to bring the Nigerian international to Camp Nou.

Interest in Lookman is not new. Over the past 18 months, he has been linked with several top clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. However, no official move has materialized yet.

The situation at Atalanta suggests a summer exit is likely. After tensions with coach Gian Piero Gasperini earlier in the season, Romano has reported that Lookman’s departure is essentially sealed. The question now is where he will land.

Atalanta are said to be demanding around 60 million euros, although that figure could drop depending on negotiations. With his contract running down and the risk of losing him on a free transfer next year, the club is expected to be open to offers.

As Flick looks to shape his first Barcelona squad, the prospect of Ademola Lookman joining the Blaugrana is gaining momentum. Whether the club can meet Atalanta’s valuation remains to be seen, but the interest is now very real.
