Falcons Wrap: Nnadozie keeps clean sheet, Oshoala on target, Ajibade assists

Plumptre, Ohale, Payne, Chikwelu and Rinsola also involved

Super Falcons players were in action for their respective clubs in different leagues across Europe over the weekend.

The likes of Rasheedat Ajibade, Asisat Oshoala, and Chiamake Nnadozie were in the winning teams.

While the likes of Oyedupe Payne, Osinachi Ohale, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Rita Chikwelu were unlucky to end up on the losing side.

Nigeria-eligible Rinsola Babajide was also involved in a game for her club.

Osinachi Ohale (Atletico Madrid 1-0 Alaves )

Super Falcons’ dependable defender, Osinachi Ohale was involved the entire period of the game as Alaves fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

The 30-year-old defender gave a good account of herself in the game in which both teams should have shared the spoils.

Rasheedat Ajibade (Atletico Madrid 1-0 Alaves)

Rasheedat Ajibade was only on the pitch for just 24 minutes, but it was just enough to help Atletico Madrid claim all three points against Alaves.

In a game involving two Super Falcons players, it was Rasheedat Ajibade who did the damage against Osinachi Ohale’s Alaves.

In the 90th minute of the game, Ajibade put out a cross from a ball that appeared to have gone out of play to Brazil’s Ludmila who made no mistakes.

Rita Chikwelu (Madrid C. 3-1 Las Planas)

Rita Chikwelu was involved again for her new club Las Planas as they suffered a 3-1 loss against her former club Madrid Club de Fútbol Femenino.

The 34-year-old midfielder was involved for 71 minutes before she was pulled out of the game.

Talking about the growth other African nations have made, a topic, Rasheedat Ajibade trashed in an interview last week, two Zambia players were in action for Madrid Club de Fútbol Femenino.

Grace Chanda and Racheal Kundananji, both Shepolopolo of Zambia players came from the bench to impact the game.

Racheal Kundananji scored a brace to help Madrid Club de Fútbol Femenino beat Rita Chikwelu’s, Las Planas.

Ashleigh Plumptre (Leicester City 0-2 Aston Villa)

Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre was in action the entire duration of the game as Leicester City suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.

Plumptre made four clearances, and four tackles in the game, but her effort was not enough to help Leicester City avoid defeat.

Oyedupe Toni Payne (Valencia 2-0 Sevilla)

Oyedupe Payne was in action for Sevilla as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Valencia away from home.

She was only on the pitch for 25 minutes.

Rinsola Babajide (Real Sociedad 2-0 Real Betis)

Nigeria-eligible Omorinsola Omowunmi Ajike Babajide was in action for Real Betis as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Real Sociedad.

The 24-year-old forward was involved for 82 minutes, but her effort was not enough to pull Betis out of the defeat.

Rinsola Babajide played for English U-19, 20, and 21 teams, but is still eligible to play for Nigeria.

Nnadozie Chiamaka (Paris FC 1-0 Le Havre)

Nnadozie Chiamake kept a clean sheet as Pari FC secured a 1-0 win against Le Havre in their last league game.

After three games, Paris FC are third with 7 points, only behind powerhouses, PSG, and Lyon women teams.

The 21-year-old has kept two clean sheets from three league games.

Asisat Oshoala (Villarreal 1-4 Barcelona)

Asisat Oshoala was on target for Barcelona as they trashed Villarreal away from home.

Superzee scored her first goal of the season as she lasted 66 minutes in Barcelona’s easy win.
