Fans Furious After Novak Djokovic’s Miami Open Match is Rescheduled

Tennis fans were left frustrated after Miami Open organisers rescheduled Novak Djokovic’s quarter-final match against Sebastian Korda at the last minute. The Serbian star was set to play on Wednesday night after Emma Raducanu’s match against Jessica Pegula. However, as Raducanu’s match stretched into a third set, it passed the ATP’s 11pm cut-off time, forcing organisers to move Djokovic’s match to Thursday.

The decision angered spectators who had paid for tickets expecting to see Djokovic in action. Delays had already disrupted the tournament due to rain on Tuesday, affecting the schedule.

One disappointed fan, 27-year-old Samantha Triana from Venezuela, had bought four tickets worth £176 ($227) for the night session, hoping to watch Djokovic. “I work until 5pm every day, so night matches are the only ones I can attend,” she told Express Sport. “I’ve been a fan of Djokovic since I was a child. It was frustrating that organisers didn’t manage the schedule better. Everyone waited to see him, so announcing the change after 11.30pm was just unacceptable.”

Other fans also expressed their anger on social media, with one person from Colombia revealing they had spent over £773 ($1,000) on tickets. While Miami Open officials later offered discounted tickets for $12.50, they did not issue refunds since at least one match had been completed, fulfilling their event policy.

Triana suggested a fair solution would have been to allow affected ticket holders to watch Djokovic’s rescheduled match for free. However, many fans who had to return to work on Thursday missed out on that opportunity.
