FC Cologne sign Nigerian midfielder Chilohem Onuoha
German Bundesliga 2 club, FC Cologne, have announced the signing of Chilohem Onuoha from RB Leipzig’s youth team. SportsRation reports.
The 19-year-old Nigerian-born midfielder will spend the 2024/25 season on loan at third division club, SC Verl.
Chilohem Onuoha explained his decision to join Cologne, citing the trust he felt during discussions with the club. “I chose Cologne because I felt a lot of trust in the discussions. I also have the opportunity to develop myself here,” he said in a statement on the club’s official website.
He also mentioned the influence of friends who have long followed the club. “I have friends in Cologne who have been following the club for a long time and who have told me a lot about the club. I really want to be able to play in the RheinEnergieSTADION one day and will work hard to achieve this goal.”
Onuoha views his loan to SC Verl as a strategic step in his development. “In order to achieve this, it is a good step to play for SC Verl in the 3rd division in my first year of senior football,” he added.
