FC IfeanyiUbah v Rivers United: Anambra Warriors, Pride of Rivers set to correct past mistakes

As FC IfeanyiUbah and Rivers United trade tackle today at the IfeanyiUbah stadium both teams will be out to correct their past mistakes.

Rivers Eguma and FC IfeanyiUbah who both have complained about their strikers being ineffective in front of goal will be hoping goals from their strikers will secure the maximum points today

Ifeanyi Ubah lost to ABS FC on Sunday evening 1 nil courtesy Metu Chigozirim 17th minute strike. After the match Coach Yaw Preko said in his reaction, that lack of composure inside the vital area was the albatross for the team.

“We came into this game with the objective to get the 3 maximum points at stake, in the half the home team created the better chances, but during the break we rejigged, and you could see that we created the better chances but failed to put the ball in the back of the net. The problem was about composure in the box which was lacking to bury the chances as we were always in a hurry.

“The problem was about composure in the box which was lacking to bury the chances as we were always in a hurry. However we hope to correct these lapses before our next game,” Preko said.

He also said they look forward to getting all three points against an Unbeaten Rivers United this season and would do all possible to win in a composed manner.

Captain of the side, GK Ezenwa Ikechukwu said after the game, that they were unlucky not to get at least a point from the encounter.

“Football is all about a win, draw and defeat. Today was an exception as we came here with the mind to get all the 3 points but it didn’t work the way we planned. We had a bit of hard luck in this match, we will now move on and stay focused as we have another tough game against Rivers Utd

“We had a bit of hard luck in this match, we will now move on and stay focused as we have another tough game against Rivers Utd on Wednesday which we need to concentrate and prepare for in order to get it right” Ezenwa said

For Rivers United, they were victorious against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday at the Yakubu Gowon stadium, winning 1 nil courtesy of a goal from Guy Kuieman Venance.

After the win, Coach Stanley Eguma was still left frustrated with his strikers, and he said they wasted too many chances.

“We could not convert the avalanche of chances that came our way against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, despite creating so many and that is a big worry to me,” he said.

“It’s a big worry for me and one of the biggest headaches, I am facing presently. We have to go back and work on this,” he also stated

Guy Kueiman Venance also agrees with Eguma and says his team-mates must improve their efficiency in front of goal.

“We cannot continue like this because failing to score when you have chances puts you under enormous pressure,” he said. In our first home match, we should have scored six or seven and it was the same situation on Sunday.

“The coach (Eguma) has every right to be unhappy because we all know the amount of hard work he puts in in the training pitch every day.

“Now, we must work extremely hard ahead of our next game against Ifeanyi Ubah, a very difficult opponent” he said.
These two teams last fixture ended in two wins for Ifeanyi Ubah, one win for Rivers Utd and a draw. The recent one last season was 2 nil wins for both teams at home.

Rivers United have 7 points this season and are placed 7th on the log, while Ifeanyi Ubah have got 3 points so far and are 11th on the log.

This match would be difficult for both teams, but goals from both teams look likely.

PREDICTION: IFEANYI UBAH 2-1 RIVERS UNITED
