FIBA 2019: Nigeria lose 81-94 to Argentina
Nigeria’s male national basketball team have crashed out of the FIBA 2019 World Cup but will play their third group game and classification games.
D’Tigers were hoping for a win against highly ranked Argentina for a place in the knock stages but it was not meant to be.
After a sorry 82-77 loss in their first match against 10th ranked Russia anything short of victory against 5th ranked Argentina meant elimination for D’Tigers.
They fought but failed to get the required win to make it into the knockout stages as their 81 points wasn’t enough in the game.
Nigeria started on the back foot allowing Argentina to take the first quarter 28-17, D’Tigers rallied back in the second quarter to take 26-15 win for a 43-43 tie score at half time.
The boys however failed to repeat their 2nd quarter display as the secured a 29-18 win and 22-20 win in the last quarter.
Josh Okogie again was Nigeria’s top performer, he raked in 18 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 3 steal and 2 blocks.
