FIFA deny claims Super Falcons players will get World Cup money directly

Contrary to widespread stories that FIFA will pay 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup bonuses directly to Super Falcons players, the World Governing body has denied those claims.

As reported on several news platforms, FIFA Secretary Fatma Samoura was quoted to have promised Super Falcons players it was for their sake that the payment protocol will be broken.

The now debunked comment read; ” It is because of you (the Super Falcons) that for the first time in the history of FIFA that the FIFAWWC prize money will be paid directly to you, the players.”

In response to the reports which painted the Nigeria Football Federation in bad light, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has clarified the situation.

“Whatever payments we do will be through the associations, and then the associations will make the relevant payments to their own players.” – Gianni Infantino said on Tuesday August 2.

Similarly, the NFF has described as false comments linked to the FIFA Secretary Fatma Samoura will pay the Super Falcons directly.

Every player participating in the World Cup group stage will earn $30,000, and the match bonuses will increase to $60,000 in the second round.

According to the NFF, players will only be paid through their federations.
