FIFA wants NFF to use $480k grant for Super Falcons 2019 World Cup preparation only, vows to audit the spending
The world football governing body FIFA has warned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that the $480,000 (about 173 million Naira) they paid for the World Cup preparation of the Super Falcons must be used strictly for that purpose.
In a circular dated January 25, 2019, FIFA made it very clear that the money they have paid will not cover costs incurred by the NFF before January 1, 2019.
They also stated that they will audit how this money is spent to prepare the nine-time African champions.
It would be recalled that FIFA have since 2015 stopped paying the NFF development grant after they objected to how previous grants were squandered by the federation.
This is the first time such preparation cash has been paid out by FIFA to the 24 finalists for the Women’s World Cup.
