FIFA Women’s World Cup: Desire Oparanozie named as Super Falcons captain?

En Avant de Guingamp striker Desire Oparanozie is set to lead the Super Falcons to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup scheduled for France later this year.

Desire Oparanozie who had played in two of the past Women World Cup with Nigeria is reportedly set to lead the team in place of Rita Chikwelu and Onome Ebi.

Rita Chikwelu the captain of the team to the AWCON 2018 in Ghana and Onome Ebi who is the most experienced player in the team were overlooked for Oparanozie.

Desire Oparanozie scored the only goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to Canada in their last friendly match in Murcia Spain.

Nigeria are in the same group as the hosts France, European giants, Norway and South Korea in group A of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
