Finidi George gives players two conditions for Super Eagles invitation
Newly appointed Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, has outlined two key conditions for player selection into the Nigeria national team.
Speaking to the media in Abuja after his official unveiling on Monday, May 13, 2024, Finidi stressed the importance of consistent club performance and unwavering commitment to representing Nigeria.
According to Finidi, players must demonstrate consistent playing time at their respective clubs and display a dedicated commitment to the national team’s cause.
He stressed the significance of players fulfilling their pledge to prioritize Nigeria and echoed his own dedication to the country, citing his experiences abroad and the treatment of Nigerian athletes.
Finidi said: “Selection of players? You have to be playing at your club and you must have that commitment.
“We all said the pledge and for me as a coach, that’s what I’m going to do. For me, Nigeria is first because I have been out of this country and I know the treatment we get outside of this country.
“I put Nigeria first and that is the same commitment and loyalty from each and every player that is invited. If you can do that, you are good to go,” the new Super Eagles boss remarked.
