Flying Eagles Beat Ghana 4-2 to Go Top of WAFU B U20 Group

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles made a winning start to the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship with a 4-2 victory over rivals Ghana on Monday.
The Flying Eagles took the lead in the sixth minute through Olayemi Ayinla, who fired home a powerful shot. Ghana equalised in the 23rd minute when Mohammed Zaidan found the net.
Nigeria quickly regained control as Lucky Oraro’s free-kick took a deflection before beating the goalkeeper in the 30th minute. Muiz Adeleke then scored from the penalty spot in the 38th minute to give the Flying Eagles a 3-1 lead at half-time.
Ghana reduced the deficit in the 60th minute after Kelvin Nkrumah converted a penalty. The Black Satellites pushed for an equaliser, but Nigeria remained composed.
Adeleke missed a clear chance late in the game but made no mistake in the 89th minute, scoring his second penalty of the match to seal a 4-2 victory for the Flying Eagles.
The result puts Nigeria at the top of Group B as they begin their quest for the regional title in impressive fashion.
