Flying Eagles book U-20 AFCON last four and FIFA U-20 World Cup places

The win was good enough to help Nigeria finish top of their group and also secure their place in the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be staged this year in Poland.

Going into the last group A game against the hosts, Niger, Nigeria needed to avoid a defeat and whatever happens in the other game involving South Africa and Burundi would have been inconsequential but Flying Eagles got the job done thanks to Alhassan’s strike.

In the other game, South Africa pipped Burundi by a lone goal to finish second in the group. South Africa will play Senegal in the semifinal while Nigeria will play the winner of the last group B match between Ghana and Mali.
