Flying Eagles Crush Benin Republic 4-1 to Reach WAFU-B U20 Semifinals

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles delivered a stunning second-half performance to defeat Benin Republic 4-1 in their second Group B match at the ongoing WAFU-B U-20 Boys Cup in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Despite going behind early in the game, the seven-time African champions bounced back in style with goals from Mohammed Abdullahi, Ezekiel Kpangu, Imrana Mohammed, and Abdullahi Majdid to secure a convincing win.
Benin Republic shocked the Nigerians with an early goal, but striker Mohammed Abdullahi equalised in the 39th minute after receiving a clever assist from Divine Oliseh. It was Abdullahi’s second goal in as many games.
Just before half-time, Ezekiel Kpangu fired Nigeria into the lead with a well-taken shot after a slick team move, putting the Flying Eagles 2-1 up.
In the second half, Imrana Mohammed made it 3-1 with a composed finish after slicing through the Benin defence. He then turned provider, setting up Abdullahi Majdid, who blasted in a superb goal from outside the box to seal a dominant 4-1 win.
The Flying Eagles’ sharp attack and solid defence in the second half gave Benin no chance of a comeback.
Sporting Lagos and Flying Eagles left-back Odinaka Okoro was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in both attack and defence.
With the victory, Nigeria now tops Group B with 4 points and has qualified for the semifinals of the regional tournament.
