Flying Eagles Star celebrates return to Akwa United after 13th African games participation

Flying Eagles star, Auwal Ibrahim who recently returned from the just concluded 13th African Games men’s football competition in Ghana has expressed appreciation to the chairman of Akwa United Elder Paul Bassey, all the staff of the club as well as his teammates for the support and encouragement given to him while on national assignment.

Auwal Ibrahim who joined Akwa United from Green Light Football Club of Abuja at the start of the current season, is yet to play a league match for the club, but caught the attention of coach Ladan Bosso who invited him to the Flying Eagles team before the start of the African Games in Ghana last month.

The youngster who didn’t feature in any of the Flying Eagles’ three group stage matches at the tournament, was on the bench for Nigeria in all their games at the tournament.

On his return to the club’s camp in Uyo, Auwal made his first appearance for the Promise Keepers in the Akwa Ibom State FA Cup final match in which he helped Akwa United to a 1-0 win over FC One Rocket.

The midfielder said that the experience he gained in the national U-20 camp will help him to improve his game and further his career.

Auwal presented a souvenir jersey to the club chairman Elder Paul Bassey and thanked him for all the support given to him before, during, and after the tournament.

In his response, Elder Paul Bassey congratulated Auwal for representing Nigeria and Akwa United Football Club at the tournament and encouraged him to ensure he will apply the knowledge garnered from his national team experience in improving his career as well as making positive contributions to Akwa United.

“We are proud of your achievement, especially for representing our country and our beloved club at the 13th African Games in Ghana. It’s a thing of honor and pride to represent your country and our club at such a stage.

“We believe that your invitation to the national U-20 team has added more experience, knowledge, and skills to your game and we trust that you will bring what you have learned to bear in your career and in helping Akwa United to attain greater heights. Once again, congratulations “.
