Former Manchester United manager David Moyes charged by FA
Sunderland manager David Moyes has been charged in relation to comments he made after the game against Burnley on 18 March.
A Football Association statement said: “It is alleged the Sunderland manager’s remarks were improper and/or threatening and/or brought the game into disrepute, contrary to FA Rule E3(1).”
Moyes has until 6pm on 3 May to reply to the charge.
Moyes was caught on camera telling BBC reporter Vicki Sparks she “might get a slap even though you’re a woman” and has since expressed his “deep regret” for his response.
The game ended 0-0 and Sunderland, who play at fellow strugglers Middlesbrough tonight, are bottom of the Premier League.
