Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has replied a local journalist who posited that the manager and the club are afraid of their champions league opponents, Ajax.
The English giants, Chelsea will tackle the Dutch giants, Ajax in a Champions League Group H clash at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Wednesday.
Chelsea are the underdogs with Ajax who have won all their previous games convincingly and top of the group the favourites.
But Frank Lampard is confident his side would have the right answers when they face the last season’s semifinalist after shutting down the you ‘looked scared’ claims from a local journalist.
“What makes you say that?” asked Lampard.
“You look scared,” replied the journalist.
“That is just my face,” said Lampard. “I respect the team, on a serious note. We saw the way this team played last year, and I know that the team has changed slightly, I am very aware of the new threats of the team and anywhere to travel in the Champions League is a difficult match.
“They have won two games in the group convincingly, so definitely it is not a fact of being scared of Ajax. We have confidence in ourselves.”
Chelsea would be without the services of N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and Antonio Rudiger due to injury when they tackle Ajax tomorrow by 5:55pm.
