Gallas: Manchester United Better for Osimhen than Arsenal

Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender William Gallas believes Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen would fit better at Manchester United than Arsenal.

Osimhen, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League following issues with Napoli, was expected to join a top English club, but instead moved to Turkish side Galatasaray on loan. With the 2024–25 season coming to an end, talk of a move to England has picked up again.

Speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas said Osimhen has the qualities to succeed in the Premier League but may need time to adapt.

“I think Victor Osimhen can become a star in the Premier League. He has the right qualities – he can stretch the defence and create space for others,” said Gallas.

“He would be useful for any team, but it might take him time to adjust. Many players struggle in their first season. Even Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t the player we all know in his first year at Manchester United, but he improved a lot in the second.”

Gallas explained that while Osimhen is talented, Arsenal may not have the time to wait for him to settle, as they are under pressure to win now.

“Arsenal need results immediately. They want to win the league next season, so they need a player who can perform straight away,” he added.

“But for Manchester United, their goal is to get into the top four or five. They are not expected to win the league right now, so they can give Osimhen the time he needs to adapt.”
