Garnacho and Hojlund help Manchester United beat Brentford

Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund scored as Manchester United came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday. This win ended United’s poor run, giving them their first victory in over a month.

With the victory, United moved to 10th place in the Premier League table with 11 points from eight games, easing some pressure on manager Erik ten Hag, whose future had been under media speculation. Brentford now sit in 12th place with 10 points.

Brentford took the lead in first-half stoppage time through Ethan Pinnock. The goal came after United had only 10 players on the pitch because Matthijs de Ligt had to leave the field to stop the bleeding from a head injury, following the referee’s instructions.

United responded strongly in the second half. Just two minutes after the break, Garnacho connected with a cross from Marcus Rashford, scoring from the left side of the six-yard box into the far corner.

Hojlund gave United the lead in the 62nd minute with a brilliant finish. After receiving a clever back-heel pass from Bruno Fernandes, the Danish striker chipped the ball over Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken, securing an important win for the home side.
