Gian Piero Gasperini has praised Ademola Lookman who scored two goals to help Atalanta to a 3-3 draw against Juventus in a Serie A game on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker who scored two goals in the midweek to help Atalanta beat Spezia 5-2 for a place in the Coppa Italia quarterfinal, continued from where he left it off.
Ademola Lookman scored the first goal of the game when his powerful shot was too hot for Wojciech Szczesny to handle in the fifth minute of the game.
The home team drew level through Angel Di Maria’s penalty, Arkadiusz Milik gave Juventus the lead as Juve ended the first 45 minutes on top.
Joakim Maehle scored the equalizer for Atalanta before Ademola Lookman completed his brace with a powerful header.
Danilo scored the equalizer for Juventus as the game ended 3-3 in Turin.
Gian Piero Gasperini who saw his team play great against a tough Juventus who were yet to concede three goals at home this season praised Lookman.
“Lookman had an extraordinary performance.
“We conceded two goals in the first half by losing the ball pretty cheaply, and those are situations where we should’ve been more careful,” Gasperini told DAZN.
Gian Piero Gasperini also compared the trio of Ademola Lookman, Rasmus Hojlund, and Jeremy Boga to the legendary Atalanta trio of Duvan Zapata, Papu Gomez, and Josip Ilicic.
“The characteristics are completely different, especially as Duvan Zapata is very physical, whereas Hojlund is just 19, he will grow.
“Papu and Ilicic had extraordinary technique, whereas Boga and Lookman prefer pace. If we score as many goals, I don’t mind!”
This season, Ademola Lookman has scored 11 league goals and assisted 3 goals, which is a total of 14 goal contributions in 18 league games.
Ademola Lookman has now scored two goals in each of his last three games, making a total of six in the last three games in all competitions.
Only Victor Osimhen has more goals (13) than Ademola Lookman (11) in the Italian Serie A this season.
