Gent 1 Mouscron 2: Taiwo Awoniyi scores again to make it 3 in 4

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi was on target in Royal Excel Mouscron 2-1 win at Gent in their Belgian top flight clash on Sunday.

The Liverpool striker who is enjoying life at Mouscron was on target again as his side secured the important win at the Ghelamco Arena despite having one of their players sent off.

It was Taiwo Awoniyi who drew the first blood when he scored in the 43rd minute following a good ball from Manuel Benson.

The visitors increased their tally in the 51st minute through Sidney Friede who converted a good bal from Nikola Gulan.

The hosts, however, got one back from the spot kick when Dylan Bronn scored from the 12 yards in the 60th minute of the game.

Gent continued to push for an equalizer while Taiwo Awoniyi and co put up a great resistance.

Royal Excel Mouscron were however reduced to 10 when Marko Bakic was sent off in the 86th minute for a second bookable offence.

Awoniyi and his teammates fought tooth and nail to keep their slim lead to secure another win.

Taiwo Awoniyi was on the pitch for the entire duration of the game, his goal meant he has scored three goals in the four games he has played for Royal Excel Mouscron since joining them on loan this January.

The only match he has failed to score was last week’s Mouscron’s 3-0 home win against Victor Osimhen’s Charleroi.
