George scores 40 as Pacers win, Clippers end skid

The Indiana Pacers continued their impressive run of form with a 123-106 win over the Washington Wizards in the NBA on Tuesday.

Paul George led the way, making seven of a Pacers’ franchise-record 19 three-pointers as he posted a season-high 40 points in Washington.

George was 14-of-19 from the field, while team-mate C.J. Miles contributed 32 points for the Pacers, who claimed their ninth win in 11 games.

“We always get overlooked,” George said. “We’re still getting used to the system, but now we’re flowing.”

Wizards pair Gary Neal and Bradley Beal combined for 43 points.

The Los Angeles Clippers snapped a three-game losing streak by downing the Denver Nuggets 111-94.

Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan scored 18 points apiece as the Clippers returned to winning ways on the road in Denver.

The Nuggets were led by Danilo Gallinari’s double-double of 20 points and 18 rebounds.

The Golden State Warriors made the best ever start to an NBA season after a comfortable 111-77 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

MVP Steph Curry led the way once more with 24 points at Oracle.

With the win, the Warriors improved to 16-0 to start the season – breaking the previous record.

They had already matched the marks set by the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and 93-94 Houston Rockets.

Elsewhere, the Dallas Mavericks crashed to back-to-back defeats after losing to the Memphis Grizzlies 110-96.

Double-doubles from Dirk Nowitzki (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Zaza Pachulia (13 points, 10 rebounds) were not enough for the Mavs.

The Grizzlies had seven players with double-digit points, namely Mike Conley (21) and Jeff Green (19).

Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague helped the Atlanta Hawks to a 121-97 win against the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls edged the Portland Trail Blazers 93-88.
