Ghana defeated by Comoros in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier

The Black Stars of Ghana suffered a 1-0 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification loss to Comoros Island on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. SportsRation reports.

Myziane Maolida struck the match-winner in the 43rd minute off a Yacine Bourhane assist to stun the Black Stars.

Ghana were foced to send on West Ham United forward, Mohammed Kudus in place of skipper Andre Ayew as they chased an equalizer in Moroni, Comoros.

That substitution did not yield desired result as the resillient Comoros held on to defeat Ghana, again.

At the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Comoros were 3-2 victors of Ghana in the group stage.

The Black Stars exited the tournament in the group stage after defeat to the Island country and will again face the pains of defeat to 126-ranked Comoros who reached the last-16 at their maiden AFCON appearance.

With the result, Comoros lead group I with six points from two games.

Les Coelancantes defeated Madagascar 4-2 in Moroni on matchday one of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series and consolidated with a win against Ghana.

Ghana occupy 4th spot behind Comoros, Mali and Madagascar. Central African Republic and Chad are the other teams in group I.
