Gift Orban delighted after scoring in Hoffenheim’s 3-1 win over Werder Bremen
Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban expressed his happiness after scoring in Hoffenheim’s important 3-1 away victory over Werder Bremen on Sunday.
Hoffenheim, fighting to avoid relegation, went behind early when French player Stanley N’Soki scored an own goal, giving Werder Bremen the lead.
However, Hoffenheim quickly bounced back with goals from Anton Stach and Tom Bischof before halftime to take the lead.
Orban then sealed the win in the second half, scoring a brilliant header just after the hour mark. He was substituted in the 76th minute for Erencan Yardımcı.
After the match, Orban celebrated on social media, posting: “Huge Away Win +3… We keep going” on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Since joining Hoffenheim from French side Olympique Lyon in January, the 22-year-old has found his scoring form again, scoring three goals in his last four Bundesliga matches.
His time at Lyon wasn’t as successful as he had hoped, so he moved to Hoffenheim for more regular playing time after falling out of favour at the French club.
Orban’s recent form shows he’s adjusting well to his new environment and hopes to continue building on this momentum. His performances may also increase his chances of earning a Super Eagles call-up as he looks to establish himself at international level.
