New Super Eagles winger Godwin Saviour has revealed his excitement at representing his country at senior level after making his debut in the 2-2 draw against Algeria “B”. The former youth international played a key part in the test match between both sides in Algeria.
Having started the match with a weakened XI that went down 1-0 at half-time, it took the introduction of Saviour and several other stars to wrest control from the home side as the game ended 2-2. The Casa Pia man was pleased to make his international bow and get some valuable minutes in the test match.
“It’s really amazing for me to play my first game with the Super Eagles. I feel really excited, we had a test game and this is good for us to get to know each other and get ourself better.”
“It was really an amazing outing for me and collectively as a team, I feel this is a very good test game for us”, Godwin enthused.
He also spoke about the impression that manager Jose Peseiro had on the team, stating the Portuguese coach’s winning mentality.
“He said every game is like a world cup final, we have to win every game, we have to have the mentality of winning, we have to have the ambition to win so before the game he said this and that is what we went to the pitch with the mindset of winning.”
Godwin Saviour gave credit to the Algeria side which holds the FIFA Arab Cup title, praising them as a good side.
“Algeria is a big team, it is one of the finest in Africa, off course when we go into the pitch we want to win and I think it is going to be a really good game for us to fight, we want to win and we are surely going to win the game.”
