Nigeria’s U-17 side, the Golden Eaglets secured their place in the final of the WAFU U-17 tournament in Lome, Togo.
Coach Fatai Amoo’s boys defeated Burkina Faso’s U-17 boys 1-0 in a hotly contested encounter on Friday. Michael Emmanuel Papo was the hero, as his 77th minute strike was sufficient to give the Eaglets the win.
The win now ensures that Nigeria’s U-17 side qualify for the final of the WAFU tournament where they will face one of Ivory Coast and Niger Republic. It also means that Nigeria will be one of the two teams from their WAFU zone to compete in the 2021 U-17 African Cup of Nations billed to hold in Morocco.
