Gundogan rates Osimhen as ‘world class’

Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has hailed Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and Robert Lewandowski as ‘world class’ strikers at the moment.

This follows their impressive performances in Wednesday’s Champions League round of 16 clash between Barcelona and Napoli.

Both players found the back of the net in the thrilling 1-1 draw, with Lewandowski giving Barcelona the lead before Osimhen’s equalizer in the first-leg clash in Naples on February 21.

Reflecting on the game, Gundogan praised the striking prowess of both Osimhen and Lewandowski in an interview with TribalFootball. He highlighted their ability to find the goal and their adeptness at finishing chances.

“Both are great strikers, they know where the goal is and how to score, they are good at finishing,” Gundogan remarked.

He also commended Lewandowski for his adaptability to Barcelona’s style of play, noting his skill in controlling the ball even in challenging situations.

Additionally, Gundogan lauded Osimhen’s aggressiveness when faced with opponents, emphasizing his effectiveness in different scenarios on the field.

“Osimhen knows how to be aggressive when he has a player on him, but also if they have different qualities they are two world-class footballers,” Gundogan concluded.

Gundogan himself ranks as a ‘world class’ midfielder considering what he has achieved in the game, especially during his time at Manchester City, where he led the Sky Blues to trble glory last season.

His stance on Osimhen aligns with the position of another renowned goal-scorer, Thierry Henry who after the UEFA Champions League recommended a Premier League switch for the young Nigerian who needs to keep the form from last-season.
