Haaland, Foden, Lewis nominated for Manchester City award

Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Rico Lewis have been nominated for Manchester City October 2023 Player of the month award.

In October 2023, Manchester City played and won four matches across the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League the most recent a 3-0 bashing of rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday October 28.

The month also saw Pep Guardiola’s men extend their unbeaten streak in European competitions to 17 matches.

To make the player of the month shorlist, Rico Lewis was outstanding at the back for Manchester City in October.

The youngster delivered fantastic displays in the Champions League, providing an assist in the 3-1 win over RB Leipzig and he was the Man of the Match in the 3-1 victory over Young Boys.

2023 Ballon D’or runner-up Erling Haaland scored five goals in five games to help the Citizens through an eventful month.

The Norwegian striker scored twice in City’s win in the Manchester derby, he scored a brace against Leipzig and he scored the winning goal in the 2-1 victory against Brighton.

For Englishman Phil Foden, his two goals in October were catalyst to the teams victory. He scored the first goal in the game with Leipzig and he also scored the first goal against Manchester United.

Erling Haaland is favourite to land the award to add to his soaring reputation.

With his goals against United, Haaland became the fastest player to score 20 goals in Premiership away fixtures which he achieved in 23 matches.

Manchester City sit in third place on the Premier League table with 24 points, two points adrift of table toppers Tottenham Hotspur after 10 matches.

The Citizens occupy first position in Group G of the UEFA Champions League with nine points after matchday three.

This season, Haaland has scored a league leading 11 goals and he has made two assists in 10 Premier League games. Foden has two goals and three assists in 10 Premier League games this term while Lewis has made four appearances in the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
