Haas set point target for every F1 race

After a blistering start to the 2016 Formula One season, Haas team principal Gunther Steiner has set the target of scoring points in every race this year.

Haas, the newest team on the F1 grid, made their debut at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix just over a fortnight ago, with Romain Grosjean guiding the car home for a sixth-place finish.

Grosjean bettered that performance with a fifth place in Bahrain on Sunday, the Frenchman sitting in fifth in the drivers’ standings with 18 points and Haas fifth in the constructors’ table.

While Steiner does not believe Haas will continue finishing that high up the grid, the Italian is hoping the team can keep up the consistency.

“I think fifth is a little bit to ask too much for,” he told ESPN. “We want to try to get points now at every race. That is the objective. If we reach it or not I don’t know.

“We know now well enough the car, what it can do and everyone has seen the pace over two races. So I think it is possible to make points.

“We always had one car at the finish, so if you have two cars then the chances are double.

“Sure, we want to try to get points every time, but to try to always be fifth is a little bit greedy here – and we don’t want to be that.”
